چکیده
This work was done during the tenure of a British Council Scholarship (1957-59) and a grant from the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Cientificas y T6cnicas, (Buenos Aires, Argentina) (1959-60). The author is indebted to Dr R. A. Kekwick for his helpful advice and criticism and for his invaluable assistance in the preparation of the manuscript and to Mr Brian Jordan for much technical assietance. Thanks are due to Dr A. E. Pearco for the facilities made available for an electrophoresis run to be made in the Perkin-Elmer apparatus.

High Efficient Nanocomposite for Removal of Heavy Metals (Hg2+ and Pb2+) from Aqueous Solution
In current work, CdS/black carbon nanocomposites were successfully synthesized with the aid of chestnut and cadmium nitrate as the starting reagents. Besides, the effects of preparation parameters such as reaction time, and precursor concentration on the morphology of products and removal of heavy metals (Hg+2, Pb+2) were studied by scanning electron microscopy images and batch adsorption mode....
متن کاملMONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES TO HUMAN ALPHA-FETOPROTEIN
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), a serum glycoprotein belonging to the onco-developmental proteins group, serves as a marker both in cancer research and in studies concerning fetal development and fetal pathophysiology. Monoclonal anti-AFP antibodies are essential reagents in developing appropriate techniques for measurement of this protein. In this study, in order to produce anti-AFP monoclonal a...
متن کاملAbsorption Spectra of Normal Adults and Patients with Sickle Cell Anaemia Haemoglobins Treated with Hydrogen Peroxide at Two pH Values
Background: The aim of the present study was application of haemoglobin absorption spectroscopy as a distinguishing tool for identification of two haemoglobin types-HbA and HbS. Material and Methods: Millimolar absorptivities of normal adult haemoglobin (HbA) and sickle cell haemoglobin (HbS) were monitored at pH values of 7.2 and 5.0, within the ultra violet and visible spectral range (250-...
متن کاملDesorption Kinetics of Heavy Metals (Lead, Zinc, and Nickel) Coexisted with Phenanthrene from a Natural High Buffering Soil
This work aims to investigate the competitive time-dependent desorption rate of heavy metals (lead, zinc, nickel) coexisting with phenanthrene from natural high buffering soil. Two non-ionic surfactants (Tween 80 and Brij 35) combined with disodium ethylene diamine tetraacetate salt (Na2-EDTA) were utilized as the reagents. The contaminants’ time-dependent desorption data was fitted with five k...
متن کاملThe rates of reaction of the sulfhydryl groups of human hemoglobin.
The hypothesis that the combination of a ligand with hemoglobin is associated with changes in the conformation of the molecule (l-3) is at present substantiated by considerable evidence (summarized by Rossi Fanelli, Antonini, and Caputo (4), and by Benesch and Benesch (5). It is, however, generally assumed that the changes in conformation which take place on combination with a ligand are indepe...
